Spice Up Your Life

salvete homines!

I am the Latin and World Mythology teacher at Brookville High School in Lynchburg, Virginia. I went to college at the University of Virginia where I pursued my BA in Classics and MA in Foreign Language Education. I love nearly all the nerdy things including: the MCU (ask me my favorite superhero and you will get an essay), anime, video games, books, reality tv, kdramas, etc. I also love to garden, crochet, and cheer on the UVA basketball team.

I will be teaching a course on ancient Greek rituals (which you can read about below) and running some of games for the province cup! If you have ever seen Harry Potter, then you may be familiar with the house cup. The province cup is the GLA version, with some Latin games, but also many random ways to demonstrate your skills. The goal is to win points for your province and earn praemia fabulosa.

As a former RA, I do want to pass along a last bit of advice. The RMC dining hall is very much like your average college dining hall in the summer. To make your experience there above average, it may be worth while bringing some spices from home to the food such as garlic powder/salt, red pepper flakes, soy sauce, orange pepper seasoning– whatever your favorites are! Obviously, you can bring snacks to keep in your dorm room, but taking a few seasonings to the dining hall may give you a taste of home. As the Spice Girls famously said, “People of the world, spice up your life!
