CAVSA LATET, VIS NOTISSIMA

Salvete Omnes (Χαίρετε Πάντες): Salutationes apud Latinam Academiam!

What an amazing first day! After moving in and attending an inspiring opening ceremony, we reconvened this afternoon for a variety of activities. We kicked off the festivities with our first Province Cup competition, in which provinces vied against one another to earn points towards praemia fabulosa (fabulous prizes).

We then took a tour of key locations on campus and our sacred pomerium (boundary) which culminated in several rounds of the name game, during which we learned that Gallia has a particular affinity for apples (see their province picture below). After that, we enjoyed a meal and scintillating conversation in our province groups.

Following dinner, we traveled back to Andrews Hall where Princeps, Benji, and Olivia led us in a discussion about Roman political offices and rhetoric. We also began to prepare for our own Academy electiones, which will be occurring on Tuesday. The Optimates and Populares factions nominated their respective candidates and were hard at work making dipinti (originally wall paintings) on paper using Roman cursive to advocate for their candidates.

We are so excited to start classes tomorrow!
