It’s wild that we are only a month and a half away from Academy! This is truly one of my favorite parts of the year. So you can know me a bit better, I am the Latin and World Mythology teacher at Brookville High School in Lynchburg, Virginia. I love nearly all the nerdy things including: the MCU (ask me my favorite superhero and you will get an essay), anime, Star Wars, video games, books, reality tv, kdramas, etc. I also have recently gotten into gardening and crocheting, so I got that early-onset elderly status too.

I will being teaching a course on ancient Greek rituals and co-directing the play, Miles Gloriosus, with the marvelous Magistra McIntire. Speaking of the play, audition! The play is one of the biggest parts of GLA, so I encourage you to participate to the fullest degree! If you have theater experience or just like doing fun things, the play is the place for you. Try a speaking part and maybe you will be Pyrgopolinices, our vain and cowardly lead, or Philocomasium, a clever trickster who constantly wrecks the men and tricks them to be with her boyfriend. Maybe if speaking in front of audiences isn’t your thing, take a silent comedic role. WE HAVE OPTIONS. If you are nervous about never having acted before, it’s okay; I actually have only been in a play once and it was at GLA when I was a student. You could also play in the ~super cool~ GLA pit orchestra; just bring your instrument and any sheet music you have. All are welcome and there is something for everyone!

Below are my two assistants, Skadi and Baloo. Unfortunately, they cannot accompany me to GLA. It is a real shame too because they could have given great acting tips on how to pretend like they haven't been fed dinner. There may be brief periods of mourning my best buddies, so please bring pictures of your pets for me to see while I wait to be reunited with them.

Valete,
Magistra Blanks
