Did you remember to pack...?

Salvete iterum from your RA Megan!  The GLA staff are currently at Randolph Macon setting up, and we can't wait for you all to arrive on Sunday.  You've already seen a packing list, but I'd like to give you a last minute reminder of some things that you really should pack and might have forgotten.  The list is a bit long, but so is Academy, and I promise it'll be useful to check this and ensure that you're well prepared.

- Water bottles!!!  It is very hot here, and you need to stay hydrated, especially since we will be outside often.  We are very serious about this - water bottle checks may be conducted, so please come prepared.
- Deodorant.  Very important.  Hopefully self explanatory.
- Jackets, sweatshirts, etc.  The AC here can be very cold, and you will regret it if you do not bring layers.
- Pillows, multiple blankets (again, it can be cold inside!), sheets.  The beds you will sleep in are, like most dorm beds, size twin XL.
- Any medications or medical devices that you need
- Period products if you menstruate
- Sunscreen, bug spray, hats for sun protection.
- An alarm clock, since you won't have your phone but will need to wake up on time.  Better yet, a watch as well so that you'll always know what time it is.
- The addresses of your friends and family so you can write them letters, as well as stamps, envelopes, and stationery.  Be sure to give them your GLA address too, which you'll find in the "Contact Us" bar to the right!
- Hand soap (the dorm does not come with it!), hand towels, and other toiletries.
- Laundry detergent and quarters
- A Roman outfit (this can be as simple as a sheet and safety pins for a toga, or as elaborate as you want!  See the Vestes Romanes bar on the right for some ideas.)

- Masks (not required on Randolph Macon campus, but we will be going on outings and you'll probably want some there)
- Comfortable shoes, since we do a lot of walking

Less vital, but still useful items:
- Mementos of home, like pictures of your friends/family/pets, favorite stuffed animals, and/or decor items for your dorm.

- A notebook to record memories
- Instruments if you have them and would like to play
- Cameras if you have them
- Some snacks to keep in your dorm
- A little money for field trips/gift shops

We will take very good care of you and help you get any items you need, but it's easiest for everyone if you think thoroughly about what you need and get it together now.  Vos videbimus mox / we'll see y'all soon!
