Never too early to think about packing!

salvete omnes!!

As the title indicates: it's never too early to think about what you're packing to academy! I know that personally, I've been eyeing my suitcase as of late. There are lots of things that you won't think twice about bringing (your clothes, your toothbrush, your big brains filled with Latin knowledge), but here are some things you might also want to consider (and that I highly recommend) bringing:
  • Snacks (if you can put 'em in a sealable or Ziploc container). I'll definitely be bringing some snacks to keep me energized during the day.
  • Sunglasses/Hat/Sunscreen/Water Bottle. Make sure to protect your eyes/skin/body from Apollo's burning rays. Ashland can get very hot and sunny, and we want to make sure we have discipuli (students) and not dehydrated locustae (lobsters).
  • Sweatshirt/Raincoat/Umbrella. While Ashland can get very sunny and hot, it can just as easily get cold and/or rainy. Make sure to bring these so you aren't soaking wet and cold!
  • Pens/Pencils. When I was a discipula I only brought one pen and one pencil. Do not be like me! Bring many!!
  • Index cards. You can use them to make flashcards for Greek! Or other classes!
  • Memories. Photos from home, notes from family and friends, a favorite picture. You'll want to spruce up your room a bit to make it less... dorm-y. Anything that'll make you feel a little closer to home.
  • Enthusiasm! The academy experience is what you make of it. There may be days where you're not feeling 100%. That's okay! Everyone has days like that, and we'll be here to help you. The beauty of Academy is that there are so many things we're able to do in three weeks! If you keep an open mind and a positive attitude, you'll have the best experience.

see you soon!
