GUTTA CAVAT LAPIDEM

De epistulis et me

Salvete omnes!

My name is Sallie, and I am one of your RA’s this year at the GUBERNATORIS LATINA ACADEMIA! I love cats, superheroes, tater tots, historical dramas, Survivor, and UVA basketball, but Academy is one of the annual highlights of my year (even when my team wins a national championship!). I am so excited to meet you sine dubio.

Even though you are going to have an amazing 3 weeks, it can be challenging to be away from home, especially without phones. A great solution to this is the tried and true letter. Yes, letter writing. This means you need letters, envelopes, stamps, and an address book so that you can contact all your loved ones. After writing and addressing your letters, you can give them to any of your RA's or elected Quaestors. We will deliver them directly to post office after breakfast each morning. Mail usually takes about 3-5 days to be delivered; packages vary a bit more.

Below is a template for how to fill out an envelope, including your academy address.

Academy is just a month away! Get excited. And in the meantime, catch up on some tv shows, give out your academy address to your friends/family, eat your favorite foods, and love on your pets. If you don't have any pets, I am truly sorry. For me, this means I got watch all the Jane the Virgin and Game of Thrones episodes, eat some macaroni and cheese, and pet my two dogs, Shellie and Apollo, and two cats, Hobbes and Juno (plus my cat niece, Figaro). Pictures are below.

Remember, our theme this year is gutta cavat lapidem. These small things may mean a lot when you're at academy!

Ex Animo,

Sallie, RA
