Χαίρετε, ὦ μαθηταί (Hello, students)
Ὄνομα μοι ἐστι Διδάσκαλος Cogan (My name is Mr. Cogan) I am so excited to see you all soon and to commence our odyssey into the beautiful language that is Ancient Greek! We will be starting from the very beginning on our first day of class, learning the alphabet (and the world-renowned alphabet song, winner of the grammy for best ancient alphabet song). From there, we will master some elementary concepts of the language while reading edited summaries of famous Ancient Greek tragedies as well as excerpts from Homer, Herodotus, and Thucydides. We will be learning not only about language but also conventions of various types of Ancient Greek literature. You do not need to have studied any Ancient Greek to be prepared for this class. In fact, you are already ahead of the game because you have studied Latin! My goal is to introduce you to this wonderful language while helping you achieve your personal academic goals, whether that be translating a paragraph of Ancient Greek or memorizing the alphabet. I am here to support you. Take care of yourselves and I look forward to meeting you all soon! Χαίρετε, Διδάσκαλος Cogan (He/Him)
