heus vōs!
Less than a month!  I’m super excited!  In college, working at Latin Academy as an RA was always one of my favorite parts of the year.  Now I have this amazing opportunity to come back and teach the spoken Latin course Latīna Loquenda.  But I'll post more about that soon.  Today I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, so you can get to know me a little better.
My name is David Yates, or rather Magister Yates.  I'm a former Latin teacher of ten years.  I started my teaching career in Loudoun County where I grew up.  A few years after, I moved down to Spotsylvania County and got married!  Now for the past couple of years my job has been taking care of a big awesome kiddo.  It’s been wonderful! We do so much together, but she especially loves reading, drawing, going through the car wash, building Kiwi Crates, and of course playing.  One of her favorite games right now is playing Zombie, in which I either chase her around the house for her brains, or we fight off evil humans and cook up their brains for lunch.  You know, as any good Zombie family should.  When I get some time to myself, I enjoy working on house projects, all things Latin, and watching sci-fi and fantasy shows, especially Doctor Who, LOTR, and the MCU.
I can’t wait to meet you all!  Latin Academy is truly a wonderful experience, which I know you’re going to love.  Until then, however, I hope you are able to relax and enjoy some much deserved time off from the school year.
